Over the last two weeks, third-year coach Mike Elko and his staff landed two more priority prospects in Texas A&M’s No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, starting with five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson, and, on Thursday, rising three-star wide receiver Damani Warren, who chose the Aggies over Michigan, Oregon, and others.
At wide receiver, Texas A&M’s early commitment from four-star wideout Jayden Upshaw was the first step, and just days after his announcement, Upshaw stated that the one fellow blue-chip prospect he would recruit is five-star receiver Eric McFarland, who received an early prediction to land with the Aggies, and finally made things official on Sunday afternoon.
At 5’8″ and nearly 180 pounds, McFarland is one of the most reliable receivers in the cycle, possessing elite speed and athleticsm, while his fit as the program’s future starting slot receiver is all but set in stone, especially after starting junior Mario Craver likely departs for the 2027 NFL Draft after the 2026 season.
Widely compared to the late Rondale Moore, who led Purdue with 1,258 yards and 12 touchdowns during his freshman season, and was a second-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft. After signing four blue-chip wide receivers in the 2026 cycle, Texas A&M’s future wide receiver room is the deepest it’s been in over a decade, allowing first-year OC Holmon Wiggins plenty of options that fit his scheme.
Playing his last two seasons at the prestigious IMG Academy, McFarland reeled in a combined 1,169 yards and 20 receiving touchdowns, including 595 yards and 11 scores during his 2025 junior season. With McFarland now committed, Elko and his staff will now await five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson’s announcement, set for Wednesday, July 1.
