Busch Light launches patriotic "For the Farmers" cans this summer

Busch Light is celebrating farmers and the 4th of July with limited-edition “For the Farmers” cans this year.

The cans feature the American flag, a red barn, rolling fields, corn, and a Busch Light-branded tractor, celebrating the “farmers and ranchers who have served as the backbone of America since its founding,” according to a news release from Anheuser-Busch, the beer’s manufacturer.

The cans, for the second year in a row, feature the U.S. Farmed certification from the American Farmland Trust, signifying that at least 95% of the agricultural ingredients were grown in the U.S., a reflection of Busch Light’s slogan, “Choose Beer Grown Here.”

Here’s what to know about the can and where you can grab some.

“For the Farmers” cans are available for the seventh year

Busch Light has partnered with Farm Rescue, a nonprofit that provides aid to family farms, since 2019.

“Farmers and ranchers are the backbone of America, and Busch Light is proud to stand with the people who keep this country running,” Krystyn Stowe, the head of marketing for Busch Family & Natural Family at Anheuser-Busch, said in a news release.

“There’s no Busch Light without ingredients grown by farmers here in the U.S., and through our limited-edition Farming Cans and partnership with Farm Rescue, we’re committed to supporting agricultural communities and farming and ranching families when they need it most,” Stowe said.

Between July 1 and September 1, Busch Light will donate $0.10 per case of Busch Light, up to $200,000, to Farm Rescue.

The partnership between Busch Light and Farm Rescue has raised more than $1.5 million for more than 1,300 farm and ranch families.

“When a crisis hits a family farm, it affects generations,” Tim Sullivan, the executive director of Farm Rescue, said in the release. “The contributions from this partnership allow us to provide the equipment and volunteer workforce needed to keep these farms running and help them through challenging times.”

This year’s cans coincide with America’s 250th birthday. Anhauser-Busch is launching the “ComBar,” a mobile bar made out of a combine harvester. The bar will go on a nationwide tour. It will stop at the Iowa State Fair from August 17 through 23, as well as at the Farm Progress Show in Boone from September 1 through 3.

How can Iowa farmers benefit from Farm Rescue?

Farm Rescue assists when farmers face difficulties from injury, illness or natural disaster. The organization rallies others to take care of needed work like planting, harvesting or livestock feeding.

Iowa farmers in need of help or who would like to volunteer can visit FarmRescue.org. Volunteers are required to consent to a background check and provide references before being approved.
