New York Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas will enter the 2026 season as one of the top offensive linemen in football.
Thomas will once again play a pivotal role on the Giants’ offense this year. The big man is expected to begin the regular season fully healthy after ending the 2025 campaign on injured reserve (IR), and he will now look to solidify himself as the top left tackle in the NFL.
The star lineman will certainly have his hands full during training camp despite his talent. Thomas will consistently face some of the top pass rushers in all of football in Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Abdul Carter throughout the remainder of the offseason.
During a recent appearance on the Giants Nation Show with Bobby Skinner, Thomas was asked about facing his teammates throughout practice, and the big man was able to reveal which player has given him the most trouble.
“Burns,” he said. “The first thing I’ll say, all those guys are tough to block. One, they are all different. But two, one-on-ones are just a disadvantage; it’s a tough rep. But what I’ll say with Burns is obviously he has the athletic gifts where he can bend, this lateral quickness, all that stuff. He’s lanky, but I would say his understanding of the game and how to set up his rushes.
“He will make rushes look similar; he will set you up. He’s reading your sets, I think that’s what makes it really tough. And I don’t think he gets a lot of credit for his hands. I think he has really good hands, especially if you’re attacking with your outside hand. He’ll lift it, grab at it and get around you. But I would say Burns is the toughest rep.”
Burns was able to cement himself as a focal point on the Giants’ defense from the very moment he arrived in New York. The superstar outside linebacker was acquired in a trade with the Carolina Panthers, as New York sent three total draft picks to Carolina in exchange for Burns and a 2024 fifth-round selection.
Both Thomas and Burns are widely regarded as two of the top overall players at their positions. The duo will each play a critical role in the Giants’ overall success this year, as Thomas and Burns will continue facing each other throughout the remainder of the offseason.
