The Detroit Free Press has teamed up with the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association to create the first all-state team for the Michigan Girls High School Flag Football League.
Of the league’s 80 schools, 70 players from 25 teams were nominated. Coaches and media members then had one week to vote on the state’s top players. The leading vote-getters earned first and second team honors, while the remaining nominees were named honorable mention.

Offensive Player of the Year
Lainie Dorow, junior, St. Joseph
After leading the Bears to back-to-back state championships, another division title and a perfect 7-0 record, the 5-foot-9 quarterback cemented herself as one of the most decorated players in state history.
She also earned Detroit Lions Player of the Week honors in Week 4.
Dorow completed 114 of 150 passes for 1,969 yards, 28 TDs and two interceptions while rushing for 106 yards and two scores. On defense, she added 39 flag pulls, seven interceptions and five pick-sixes.
She received 25 first-team votes, the most for any player.
Defensive Player of the Year
Capri Easley, junior, Wayne Memorial
The 5-foot-8 pass rusher earned an offer from William Penn University after leading the state with 14 sacks.
Easley finished with 33 flag pulls and was named Wayne Memorial’s defensive MVP, helping the Zebras win a division title and finish 4-1 while reaching the state playoffs.
She received 23 first-team votes.
