These Milwaukee restaurants have new patios for summer 2026

From expansive beer gardens to quaint sidewalk seating, cushy lounge chairs to umbrella-topped dining tables, patios have a magnetic pull for almost everyone during Milwaukee summers. Even if you already have a favorite (or five), it’s always fun to scope out a new spot for al fresco dining.

These Milwaukee restaurants and bars are here to bring fresh scenery, vibes and breezy ways to dine and drink outdoors. Their new patios are here just in time for summer (just remember that weather may be a factor in any restaurant’s patio hours).

Calogero’s

338 E. Bay St.; (414) 210-2793

Since opening in May, Bay View’s sharp new Italian cocktail lounge has quickly become one of the city’s coolest date-night destinations, but now that patio season has started, its fenced-in space out back makes the bar even dreamier.

Tucked off Bay Street on the neighborhood’s north side, Calogero’s has a lovely partially covered patio, outfitted with sleek dining tables and lounge seating for more than 30 guests. During the day, overhead fans keep things breezy under the summer sun. At night, warm lights fill the space with a romantic glow. Should things get chilly, outdoor heaters offer a cozy touch.

The bar’s soundtrack of smooth jazz and classic crooners tinkles through the outdoor speakers. It’s an ideal spot for grabbing a drink before heading down the block to sister restaurant Santino’s, or a swanky place to park all night while snacking on cheese and olive platters, roasted flatbreads and pressed sandwiches.

Sip an Italian amaro, martini or boozy ice cream drink on the sultry patio on a Friday or Saturday night, or head there on Sunday, Tuesday or Wednesday for the bar’s “Spritz & Chips” special, when guests get Aperol and Hugo Spritzes with a side of kettle chips and shaved Asiago cheese for $10.

Hours: 4 to 11 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday

Draft & Co.

441 W. Wisconsin Ave.; (414) 367-6457

The newest member of the Draft & Vessel family of bars opened earlier this year on the Vel R. Phillips Plaza downtown. Quickly, it became known as much for its stellar smashburgers and casual pub fare as for its top-notch draft list. In fact, just four months after opening, Draft & Co.’s Draft Smash landed on the Journal Sentinel’s list of best Milwaukee burgers.

In its debut summer, the bar and burger joint has set up an expansive beer garden outside on the plaza, with picnic tables and seating for around 125 guests, plenty of room for revelers to gather outside.

On weekends, a vintage Dodge tap truck pours a selection of draft German beers and more directly from the Draft & Co. Beer garden, so guests don’t have to file into the bar to order. Beer truck pours include Phase 3 – Goodland Lager, Paulaner Pils, Hoffbrau Kellerbier, Hacker Weisse and four rotating draft cocktails.

Guests can order beer and food from the beer truck or at the bar inside. On weekends, the tap truck bar is open 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The beer truck may be parked outside only on weekends, but Draft & Co’s beer garden is open daily during restaurant hours. It’s a prime spot to sip on suds and snack on a burger, chicken tenders, cheese curds, hot dogs and — new this summer — Purple Door ice cream

Is your pooch patio-happy too? Dogs are always welcome in Draft & Co.’s beer garden.

Beer garden hours: noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday

Flor de Piña

4125 S. Howell Ave.; (414) 226-5498

Just south of Bay View in Milwaukee’s Garden District, Flor de Piña debuted in early May, in the former site of Hot Dish Pantry. Not long after owner Maricela Mireles Martinez purchased the building, the building was painted in a bold kaleidoscope of colors, a new concrete patio was poured and an outdoor bar was installed.

Now, the fenced-in patio is a highlight of the space, with seating for around 30 diners at its shaded dining tables and more at the open-air bar outside, fitted with a big-screen TV. Mexican dance music bops through the speakers, filling the patio with infectious beats, and a small water feature sends water trickling into a basin along the bar.

The restaurant is still serving its soft-opening menu, a pared-down mix of traditional dishes like chilaquiles, quesabirria with consommé, chicken flautas, tacos, burritos and tortas. There are snacks and sweets, too, like those served in the many Mexican ice cream shops found on Milwaukee’s south side, including frozen mangonada, elotes, tostielotes and fresas con crema.

Under the shade of the sunny yellow umbrellas, Flor de Piña’s patio beckons guests to chill with a cool margarita, mojito or puckery cantarito under the summer sun.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily

JoSã on the River

106 W. Wells St.; (414) 210-4701

For a city with three rivers running through it, Milwaukee is sorely underutilizing its riverside restaurant space. But in April, this glitzy newcomer debuted downtown along the Milwaukee RiverWalk in the former home of Pier 106, and now its shiny new patio is ready to welcome guests by the water this summer.

Wave to boaters below from the expansive patio, done up with plenty of dining tables calling for hungry brunchers and dinnertime guests, plus lounge seating for those easing into the evening with a briny London martini, blackberry margarita, crisp glass of wine or frothy beer.

It’s dressed up in pretty greenery and lights that twinkle off the river below. During the day, it’s a picture-perfect setting for brunch or lunch, filled with guests tucking into bananas Foster pancakes, crab cake benedicts and juicy Wagyu burgers.

At night, go before a show at the nearby Pabst Theatre and treat yourself to globally inspired comforts like jerk chicken egg rolls, sweet chili salmon bites, lamb chops with grill asparagus, herbed roast chicken and more.

Hours: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday, 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday

Purslane

1751 N. Farwell Ave.; (414) 212-8692

In June 2025, James Beard Award nominee Mary Kastman opened Purslane, a modern Turkish-Mediterranean restaurant in the former space of celebrated fine-dining restaurant Ardent. In the year since, the restaurant has gained legions of fans and was named one of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s best new restaurants of the year.

It’s a hip and vibrant space with bold flavors and an outstanding beverage program, but until recently, guests were confined to the cozy-but-tight indoor dining room that sits just below Farwell Avenue on Milwaukee’s east side.

With a year under its belt, the restaurant debuted outdoor seating for the first time in late May, adding four azure-colored dining tables on the sidewalk just above the main restaurant space. It’s not the most secluded patio in the city, but with street traffic whirring by and east-side residents gliding past as they walk through the neighborhood, the patio seating has big-city energy just steps from Brady Street.

It’s an ideal spot to snack on olives with preserved lemon and Chios spice, tuna naya prickled with strawberry and yuzu chermoula or a mezze trio of smooth hummus and whipped avocado muhammara with fluffy, warm pita bread.

And if you go on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this summer, all bottles of wine are half-off. By rule, all wine tastes better when sipped on a patio — and even better at half-price.

Hours: 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday
