Michigan football coach Kyle Whittingham and his brother, tight ends coach Freddie Whittingham, went back to their old stomping grounds to pull in their latest commit.
Christian Hanshaw, a tight end out of American Fork, Utah, pledged to U-M on Sunday, June 21, the second commit of the weekend, joining five-star class of 2028 kicker Ryan Jung.
Hanshaw is a three-star recruit, rated the No. 5 player in Utah, No. 28 tight end in the country and No. 516 player in the rising senior class according to 247Sports composite rankings. He held offers from nearly two dozen Power Four programs, including Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, UCLA, Utah and Florida among others.
A multi-sport athlete who also has a basketball background, Hanshaw caught 27 passes for 356 yards (13.2 yards per reception) and two touchdowns across 12 games in his junior season. Michigan now has 18 commits in its 2027 class which ranks No. 21 in the country on the heels of its biggest recruiting event of the year.
