A brush fire in Palm City has been contained by Martin County and Florida firefighters, Martin County Fire Rescue officials said.
The blaze broke out just after 4 p.m. June 19 near Southwest Martin Highway and Southwest 78th Avenue, between Florida’s Turnpike and Interstate 95. Lightning might have been the cause, fire rescue officials said.
Firefighters contained the blaze to 15 acres, according to Martin County Fire Rescue. No one was injured and no structures were threatened, fire rescue officials said.
The Florida Forest Service was monitoring the blaze — following containment — in case it rekindles. No one from the Florida Forest Service could be reached early June 20 to check on the fire’s status.
