Cowboys ink Raiders edge who was allegedly 'sleep, unresponsive' in 2024 arrest

The Dallas Cowboys have now made seven roster moves on the final few days of their mandatory minicamp. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer cancelled the third and final day on Thursday, sending his roster into a long holiday weekend as the nation and Texas specifically set to celebrate Juneteenth. But before everyone left, the front office had several guys in their offices as they churned the bottom of the roster while filling in the final vacancy.

Dallas has carried the offseason maximum of 90 players, but as edge rusher Adedayo Odeleye qualifies for the NFL’s IPP Program, the Cowboys can carry 91 players in the offseason. After shuffling in UFL additions Chris Glaser (OL), Ameer Speed (DB) and Denzel Mims (WR) and cutting WR Romello Brinson and DB Corey Ballentine, the team moved veteran OL Matt Hennessy to IR. In addition though, the team also signed street free agent Charles Snowden.

Snowden is a 3-4 edge rusher who went undrafted out of Viriginia, landing with the Chicago Bears in 2021. He spent most of the season on the practice squad, appearing in two games. He joined the Tampa Bay Bucs practice squad in mid-2022 and the Las Vegas Raiders PS mid-2023. It was there with the Raiders he finally worked his way up to being on the roster permanently.

That began in 2024 and he’d appear in 31 games over the 2024 and 2025 seasons, starting 18 of them. Snowden had a career-high 3 sacks in 2025 (4.5 total on career) while also nabbing an interception.

After Maxx Crosby’s trade was rescinded and he ended up back in Las Vegas, that appeared to help unravel Snowden’s time there after being offered an ERFA tender earlier in the spring. Now he joins the Cowboys and will look to latch on in Christian Parker’s new defense.

Snowden found himself in deep water late in the 2024 season. He was arrested and charged with DUI. Police allege he was unresponsive with his car in neutral up against a jersey wall on a Monday night in Las Vegas in December.

Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Charles Snowden’s blood-alcohol level was more than double the legal limit after officers found him asleep and unresponsive in a running SUV, according to documents the 8 News Now Investigators obtained.

Snowden was in the driver’s seat of a Jeep Grand Cherokee that “had almost rolled off a four-foot retaining wall,” according to a police report the 8 News Now Investigators first obtained. The car’s engine was running, and the gear was in neutral.

Snowden plead no contest to the DUI in January 2025 with the charges being reduced to reckless driving.

Snowden went on to have the most productive season of his young career. He’ll be joining a mixed bag of experience, with veterans Rashan Gary and James Houston mixed in with Donovan Ezeiruaku, Malachi Lawrence and Marist Liufau competing for edge snaps while Snowden will compete to make the roster.
