The race for Webster Village trustee remained deadlocked in unofficial results on election night on June 16.
Incumbent Michael Morency and Brian McGraw split the vote, 126 to 126, with two write-in votes. The winner will serve a one-year term on the village board.
If the tie remains in place, state law dictates a run-off election. Alternatively, if both candidates waive the runoff election, it will be settled “by lot” — meaning by chance, such as writing the candidates’ names on paper and drawing one — determined by a state supreme court judge.
The runoff election would be conducted on the first Tuesday at least 10 days after the final certification of the tie vote.
Voters also rejected a proposition to cede two parcels owned by Xerox to the Town of Webster.
The corporation sought the cessation of the parcels for redevelopment, though there are no proposals before the town or village to do so at the moment. One parcel was 32.2 acres and one is 1.32 acres. Both are zoned industrial, with the larger off Mitcheldean Drive and another off Ridge Road.
