Great Lakes Recovery Centers receive funding for physical wellness program

The Great Lakes Recovery Centers was recently awarded $6,400 from the Mackinac Island Community Foundation’s Beaumont Fund.

According to a GLRC announcement, the funding will be allocated toward purchasing new therapeutic exercise and wellness equipment to support trauma-informed recovery programming at its new Women’s Recovery House in Sault Ste. Marie. The initiative is designed to enhance recovery services by integrating and expanding therapeutic exercise and physical wellness to support mental health, physical health and long-term recovery outcomes.

“The wellbeing initiative set by the Mackinac Island Community Foundation is critical for us and the many organizations seeking to address challenges to mental health in the region,” said Tia Webber, GLRC’s community relations coordinator, in the announcement. “This new therapeutic equipment programming will help current and future clients at GLRC by strengthening their path to recovery. We are sincerely appreciative of the Community Foundation’s partnership with us on this project and it would not be possible without their support.”
