An Antioch man fatally shot Sunday, June 14, in Stockton during an argument was identified Monday by the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Ceasar Raasann Ammons Sr., 53, had been in an argument with someone he knew when the person pulled out a gun and shot him in the leg, police said.
The shooting, which occurred in the 2100 Block of Battlement Drive, was reported to Stockton police at 12:15 a.m.
Ammons Sr. was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Officer David Scott, a spokesperson for the Stockton Police Department, said he could confirm that there was a relationship between Ammons Sr. and the alleged shooter. However, Scott did not specify who they were to each other.
An arrest has not been made in the case, Scott said.
The shooting, listed on the Stockton Police Department’s Watch Commander’s night report as a homicide, is now being reviewed by investigators to determine whether it was a justifiable homicide.
“Right now, it’s technically not ruled a homicide at this time because it’s pending justification,” Scott said.
The spokesperson said while the investigation remains ongoing it is now up to the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office to file charges.
Scott said the decision would depend on the investigation and evidence.
