Four Section 1 girls lacrosse champions compete in regional finals

The four Section 1 championship girls lacrosse teams are competing in their respective regional finals on June 7, needing a victory to reach the state semifinals.

Monroe-Woodbury High School will host the regionals, featuring Suffern, Nyack, Rye and Pleasantville talking on the Section 9 champions in their classifications.

Section 1 is favored in each of these matchups but that, of course, is not an assurance of anything and the coaches and players insisted that no postseason opponent can ever be overlooked, particularly this far into the playoffs and with the understanding of what’s at stake here.

Saturday, June 7

Class A: Suffern vs. Valley Central, 10 a.m.

Class B: Nyack vs. Warwick, 12 p.m.

Class C: Rye vs. Rondout Valley, 2 p.m.

Class D: Pleasantville vs. Highland, 4 p.m.
