The Texas Tech Red Raiders have secured another top target, landing a commitment from four-star athlete Gideon Gash, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Gash is from Detroit, Michigan, and picked the Red Raiders over the Alabama Crimson Tide, Michigan State Spartans, and Oklahoma Sooners. He was set to officially visit all four programs, but decided to make his commitment during his official visit to Lubbock this weekend after officially visiting Michigan State last weekend.
He is ranked as the No. 73 overall player and No. 4 athlete in the 247Sports composite. The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder is also the No. 2 player from Michigan.
Gash played all over the field for Catholic Central High School last season, starring in all three phases of the game. As a wide receiver, he caught 19 passes for 540 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 28.4 yards per reception. On defense, he recorded 74 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, one interception, nine pass breakups, and one fumble recovery, which he returned for a touchdown. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
Regardless of where he plays, he has the athleticism and playmaking ability to be a difference-maker for the Red Raiders. He is Texas Tech’s 11th commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle and the sixth top 100 player. All but two of their commits are ranked among the 175 best prospects in the country as Joey McGuire and Co. continue to stockpile elite players.
Their recruiting class is now ranked as the 4th best in the country and the best in the Big 12 by Rivals. Their average player rating of 92.86 is the best in the country.
