Brighton golfers tied for first after one round of state finals

BIG RAPIDS — Brighton is tied for first place following the first round of the state Division 1 boys golf championships on Friday, June 5 at Ferris State University.

The Bulldogs shot 292 to finish the day tied with Birmingham Brother Rice. They are nine shots ahead of Detroit Catholic Central.

Hartland was ninth out of 18 teams with a 307.

The final round is Saturday, June 6.

Junior Grady Bissett and sophomore Easton Short shot 71 to lead Brighton. They are tied for sixth individually, two shots behind David Han of Midland Dow.

Senior Adam Forcier shot 72 to tie for 10th and senior Brandon Lovejoy 78 for the Bulldogs.

Junior Aidan Oake shot 72, senior Michael Maurin 77, junior Liam Kastamo and sophomore Jase Sensor 80 for Hartland.
