The 2026 Ohio High School Athletic Association regional baseball tournaments continue Wednesday, June 3 throughout the state. Several Akron-area teams are in action throughout Northeast Ohio.
The Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, Archbishop Hoban, Hudson, St. Vincent-St. Mary and Walsh Jesuit baseball teams all will play regional semifinals today.

Shaker Heights baseball upsets unbeaten Lakewood to advance to play Walsh Jesuit-Highland winner
As Walsh and Highland get set to play at 5 today, they will be taking the field after an upset in the other Division II regional semifinal at Gilmour Academy. Shaker Heights, which is now 19-11, knocked off previously unbeaten Lakewood 4-2. Lakewood entered the game 27-0. The Walsh-Highland winner will play Shaker Heights.
CVCA baseball advances to play the Hoban-STVM winner in a regional final
Next up for the Royals will be a Division III regional championship game in Hudson. They will play the Hoban-STVM winner. Those two Akron rivals play in the second regional semifinal today in Hudson.
CVCA wins behind combined shutout from Kyle Shaw and Alex Mammone
The Royals are headed to the regional finals in Division III after a 2-0 win over Chardon. Kyle Shaw and Alex Mammone combined on the shutout. Shaw went 6.2 innings, striking out five and giving up just one hit to go with four walks. Mammone got the final out for the save.
CVCA baseball heads to the 7th with a 2-0 lead
Royals starter Kyle Shaw has allowed just one hit so far in shutting out Chardon through six innings. He’s struck out five. The Hilltoppers are coming to bat in the top of the seventh.
CVCA baseball takes lead against Chardon
The Royals scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead. Zac Anderson’s RBI single put CVCA up 1-0, as Peyton Drabick scored. Alex Mammone later scored on a wild pitch for the 2-0 lead. Drabick and Mammone each singled earlier in the inning. It was Mammone’s second hit of the game.
CVCA vs. Chardon scoreless in top of the 4th inning
Chardon is batting in the top of the fourth of a scoreless game which has featured just two hits, both by CVCA.
Kyle Shaw pitching well for CVCA
Kyle Shaw has yet to allow a hit through the first three innings, striking out four. Chardon’s only baserunners have reached via an error and a walk.
Chardon’s Tim Robertson shutting down CVCA
Chardon’s Tim Robertson allowed two hits to go with five strikeouts, a walk and a hit by pitch. CVCA’s Layne Davis has reached base twice, with a single and a hit by pitch.
