The Detroit Grand Prix, run on the downtown streets last Sunday, saw a 10% increase in viewership, according to FOX Sports data released Tuesday.
There were 1,167,000 viewers of Sunday’s race, an increase from 1,061,000 last year. That’s also a 35% improvement from last year’s average (867,000) of non-Indianapolis 500 races on FOX.
Pole-sitter Alex Palou led 71 laps to win the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix for the second time in his career. Palou, the IndyCar series points leader, won the race in 2023 when the Grand Prix returned to the downtown streets from Belle Isle.
“It feels like the first time, honestly,” Palou said after the race. “It was a tough one, a very tough one. But the team did an incredible job once again with the strategy. Incredible run, incredible start of the year, but it was tough.”
Through eight races, IndyCar racing on FOX, is averaging just more than 2.2 million viewers, a 12% increase from 2025.
