Stark County Hunger Task Force ready for kids' summer food program

CANTON ‒ The Stark County Hunger Task Force is providing food throughout the summer for Stark County children through its Summer Backpack for Kids program.

From June 8 through Aug. 14, food backpacks will be distributed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Ken Weber Community Campus at Goodwill, 408 Ninth St. SW.

The campus will be closed June 19 and July 4, and backpacks will not be distributed on those dates.

Children between 3 and 17 years old are eligible. Bags will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. The bags will contain two breakfasts, two lunches, and two snacks. These are not actual school backpacks.

In addition, Stark County Hunger Task Force will be teaming up with Stark Library, Massillon Library, and Louisville Public Library to distribute food backpacks at various branches and bookmobile locations. The schedule is as follows:

Stark Library, June 8-July 31

Massillon Library June 8-Aug. 14

Main Branch (Massillon)

Askren Branch (Navarre)

Pam S. Belloni (Navarre)

Louisville Public Library June 8-Aug. 14
