NEWARK – The race for the Licking County League-Cardinal Division championship went down to the final day, and the Newark Catholic baseball team rode the left arm of senior Owen Przymierski to the title.
Przymierski, who finished 6-1 in LCL play, recently was named the Cardinal Division Player of the Year. NC’s Ron Graves was named Coach of the Year as the Green Wave finished 11-5, one game better than runner-up Heath and two ahead of Northridge in a hotly-contested race.
Licking Valley ran away with the Buckeye Division title, finishing 15-1 and four games each better than Granville and Watkins Memorial. Adam Arcuri was named Coach of the Year for leading the Panthers to their third consecutive title.
Granville senior Wilson Wells was named Player of the Year in the Buckeye. Wells, a two-way standout, was one of the league’s top run producers.
