Odessa man dies after motorcycle hits deer in Runnels County

A 63-year-old man from Odessa was pronounced dead following a motorcycle crash at 8:56 p.m. on May 31, 2026, according to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Mickey Dale was traveling on Farm to Market Road 2333 in Runnels County on a 2012 Yamaha motorcycle when the vehicle struck a deer crossing the roadway from left to right, according to DPS.

Investigators believe the motorcycle subsequently tipped over and skidded off the right side of the road, ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a helmet.

Dale was transported to Shannon Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:14 p.m., according to the report.

Road and weather conditions that day were reported as clear and dry, and the posted speed limit on the road of the incident is 70 mph.
