It’s the end of an era for downtown Pensacola’s Jordan Valley restaurant, as it will close its longstanding restaurant at 201 S. Jefferson St. at the month’s end and fully relocate to its 1400 Barrancas Ave. location.
Jordan Valley has been part of Pensacola’s dining scene for 17 years. The popular Mediterranean restaurant was first established in 2005 in Cordova Mall, then spent about three years on Palafox Street before moving into the Jefferson Street location that has served as the company’s home base for over a decade.
Restaurant owner Tamer Ghboun began renovating the Barrancas Avenue restaurant in 2024, a building he has owned for several years, to become the newest Jordan Valley location when the Jefferson Street restaurant was purchased by new owners. The restaurant was ready for customers in the fall of 2025.
Ghboun kept both restaurants open for about a year and a half until the new owners were ready to take over the downtown restaurant, but the time has come.
“Recently we were given a notice that they want the property by the end of June beginning of July, so we wanted to notify our customers and supporters and community of this change,” Jordan Valley shared in a statement on the restaurant’s social media page May 30.
Ghboun transformed the Barrancas Avenue restaurant—previously leased to Pineapple Express Hawaiian Grill—into a welcoming space for Jordan Valley fans, with a mural of sunset-soaked deserts of Jordan, crystal chandeliers in the main dining room, and warm, tan leather booths.
The Barrancas Avenue restaurant is currently open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday.
Both restaurants feature many of the same high-quality, fan-favorite dishes that he has been serving since 2005, many of them staples of his home country, Jordan.
Some of Ghboun’s personal favorites from the menu include the Mixed Grill platter, which is the total package offering a variety of grilled meats, sauces and pita, as well as the Chicken Shawarma, a tender, marinated boneless chicken flavored with 17 different seasonings, paired with homemade garlic sauce.
Even if you’re not a meat-lover, there are still a variety of flavorful dishes to choose from, including their stuffed grape leaves, falafel, hummus and their famous desserts.
The menu is divided into a variety of platters and sandwiches, perfect for those looking for a gyro on the go or a sit-down platter complete with Greek salad, fresh pita and a side of hummus.
