Every year Polk County boys volleyball seems to be getting better. But sometimes the results just don’t match up to the level that team is on.
George Jenkins boys volleyball is a prime example, as the program won its second straight district championship and made it all the way to the regional semifinals for the second straight year.
Auburndale won its second straight district championship as well, finishing up its season in the regional tournament.
Meanwhile, Winter Haven registered its first winning season in three years, putting up an impressive 11-win season.
And Davenport had one heck of a year, finishing the year with an 18-5 record.
Below are the best coach and players who have represented these Polk County programs.
Coach of the Year
Jena Ousley
George Jenkins
Ousley is once again the Coach of the Year for a third time, as she has led the best team in the county once more to another district title and a chance at advancing to another regional final. Facing a tough schedule, she led her group to a 16-5 record, including some impressive wins over Creekside, Berkley Prep, Venice and Cypress Creek.
Player of the Year
Jacob Aca

Senior, outside hitter
When you see Aca stack up against his competition, it’s quite clear that he is the best player on the floor nearly every time he is competing. Oftentimes talent jumps off the screen, and one can clearly point out that this athlete belongs on the next level, and there isn’t any exception with Aca, who dominated the competition once more in 2026, racking up his second straight Player of the Year award. Aca mustered up 71 kills, 22 total blocks and 123 digs. It’s not just about the stats though; it’s the way he executes kills, as the force he uses to drive that ball to the floor is second to none in the county.
