Columbus swimmers, grab your goggles and your towels.
Columbus Recreation and Parks is opening four of its outdoor pools this weekend on May 30 after weather delayed the summer opening over Memorial Day weekend.
The following Columbus pools will be open Saturday: Dodge, Glenwood, Lincoln and Tuttle.
“We are a go tomorrow,” confirmed parks spokesperson Kerry Francis. “The weather looks beautiful.”
Weekend pool hours are noon to 6 p.m. Francis encouraged residents to check the Columbus Recreation and Parks website for any delays or closures.
The National Weather Service is predicting highs in the 70s this weekend, which means the water could still be a bit chilly, but warm enough to open the pools.
More pools will open next weekend on June 6. Those are Driving Park, Maryland and Windsor pools.
Marion Franklin Pool could be closed for most of the summer while construction continues at the facility.
Pool admission is rising this summer to $3. To visit Columbus’ pools, people must obtain a free Leisure Card from the city at one of the city’s community centers. A person does not have to be a city resident to obtain a card or visit a city pool.
After facing lifeguard shortages in the past that prevented the city from keeping all its pools open, the city is fully staffed for the summer with 147 lifeguards, Francis said.
