Jets trade special teams ace to Seahawks at start of OTAs

The New York Jets have made a trade with the Seattle Seahawks one their first day of 2026 spring practices.

As the Jets began their OTAs journey this offseason, the team decided to move on from Irv Charles.

It has been announced that the special teams ace has been traded to the Seahawks on Wednesday:

In return for Charles, a conditional seventh-round pick is heading to New York, according to ESPN.

Charles was a standout player on special teams for the Jets. However, that came in 2023 and 2024 as Charles had more than 400 snaps on special teams in 25 games over those two years. He made 14 tackles as a gunner.

Charles had fallen off the radar in a big way in 2025, though. At the end of the 2024 season, Charles tore his ACL and missed the entire 2025 season.

Jets Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2026 offseason.
