How former Jaguars first-round pick can continue to elevate his game

Jacksonville Jaguars’ right tackle Anton Harrison thrived in Liam Coen’s offense last season.

So, heading into Year 2 within the system, what are the next steps for Harrison?

“Certainly continued growth,” offensive coordinator Grant Udinski said of Harrison after Tuesday’s OTA practice. “We know that progression is never linear, but hopefully we can continue to compound off the things that he built on last year.”

Upon arrival, Liam Coen, Udinski, and the rest of the Jaguars coaching staff knew the talent that Harrison possessed, but last summer, they challenged him to find that day-in and day-out consistency.

Harrison was able to do that as training camp unfolded, and that then carried over into the regular season.

Out of 92 eligible offensive tackles, he ranked 29th in PFF’s pass-blocking efficiency metric. In run-blocking grade, he was tied for 50th.

“He’s a guy, he knows this, that his ceiling is essentially as high as he wants it to be,” Udinski added. “So, that’s a beautiful predicament to be in because we’re going to push him to continue to push beyond where he is at right now, no matter where that is. He’s going to be responsible for his end of it and we got to be responsible for our end of it, giving him the opportunity and tools to continue to elevate.”

Earlier this offseason, the Jaguars exercised Harrison’s fifth-year option for the 2027 NFL season.
