The Palm Beach Post’s Spring All-County teams are here!
The Post is proud to announce the Player of the Year nominees for boys water polo. Player of the Year winners will be announced at the Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards, which will be held at the SoFi Center on the Palm Beach Gardens campus of Palm Beach State College on May 28.
Award winners have been contacted by staff with invitations to attend the show, which is produced with support from Baptist Health Orthopedic Care.
First Team All-County Boys Water Polo
Bruno Beznos, Boca Raton
Beznos led the way for the Bobcats this season, posting team-best marks in goals, assists and steals. A senior, Beznos helped Boca Raton finish 9-6 overall and qualify for the FHSAA boys water polo regional playoffs.
Brady Desimone, Suncoast
Desimone racked up goals for the Chargers at a team-best pace this season. The senior posted 55 goals to finish as Suncoast’s top scorer.
Leo Guglielmino, Saint Andrew’s
Guglielmino manned goal for the Scots during a grueling campaign that included the most difficult strength of schedule for any Palm Beach County boys water polo team. He managed 184 saves, helping the Scots finish 14-14 overall and reach the second round of the FHSAA state playoffs.
Noah Kanen, Spanish River
The Sharks put together a winning campaign this season in no small part thanks to their top point scorer. Kanen led Spanish River in goals, assists and steals as the Sharks finished 6-5 overall.
Arsen Paily, Wellington
Paily’s productive ways helped the Wolverines to a solid 8-4 season and an unbeaten district campaign. The senior finished with 82 goals, 47 assists and 38 steals in 10 games.
Damjan Roncevic, Saint Andrew’s
Saint Andrew’s slugged it out with some of the best teams in Florida this year with Damjan Roncevic often in the middle of it all. Roncevic led the Scots with 124 goals and 37 assists. Saint Andrew’s finished the year as the top-ranked team in Palm Beach County and reached the second round of the FHSAA state playoffs.
Honorable Mention
Coach of the Year
Tristan O’Connell, Saint Andrew’s
Saint Andrew’s advanced deeper into the FHSAA state playoffs than any other boys water polo squad from Palm Beach County this season. O’Connell’s crew tested themselves against the toughest schedule of any local squad and came out with a solid 14-14 mark and no losses to county foes. The Scots closed the year ranked No. 15 overall in Florida.
