Pick the LSJ girls high school athlete of week: May 18-23

Here is a look at the individuals in the running to be voted the Lansing State Journal girls high school athlete of the week.

Avery Dunneback, Lansing Catholic softball

The senior and Grand Valley signee contributed to the Cougars winning the Greater Lansing Hall of Fame Softball Classic for a second straight season. Dunneback went 5-for-10 during Lansing Catholic’s three wins with three doubles and a home run and drove in five runs. She surpassed 200 career hits during the strong week and drew four walks and scored six runs.

Eliana Rojas, East Lansing soccer

Rojas has had a hand in eight of the 15 goals scored by the Trojans during the three-game winning streak. That included scoring four goals and adding an assist in a win over Eastern to open the Division 1 state tournament. 

Celina Sinclair, Olivet track

The senior won three events while helping the Eagles place third as a team at the Division 3 MITCA meet on Saturday, May 23. Sinclair won the 100 in 12.71, the 200 in 26.54 and the 400 in 59.81.
