CenterPlace Health names CEO
Kathleen Marshall, a veteran health care executive with over 20 years of experience in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), was recently appointed CEO of CenterPlace Health in Sarasota County.
Marshall most recently served as an interim CEO and previously as chief operating officer at Western Sierra Medical Clinics.
“Kathleen Marshall is a strategic leader who deeply understands the complexities and the vital importance of the FQHC model,” said Bill Little, board chair of CenterPlace Health. “What stood out to the Board is her ability to forge community partnerships and lead through collaboration. This, combined with her commitment to fiscal stewardship, makes her the ideal leader to guide CenterPlace Health into its next chapter of growth.”
Throughout her career, Marshall has been instrumental in expanding health care footprints, leading mergers and acquisitions that integrated over 20 new service sites. She holds an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Marshall succeeds the interim leadership of Bob Rodriguez, who will remain with the organization during the transition.
Sarasota Chamber VP honored
Ed Hill, vice president of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, recently received the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals’ Professional of the Year Award.
The award recognizes outstanding chamber professionals across the state of Florida for their leadership, dedication, and lasting impact on their organizations and communities. This year, two recipients were selected after independent judging resulted in a tie – Hill and Ardath Prendergast of the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce.
Hill has dedicated 16 years of service to the chamber industry. Known for his leadership, commitment to member engagement, and passion for the Sarasota business community, Hill has helped shape programs and initiatives that support businesses and strengthen regional connections.

Homebuilder names Sarasota boss
Homebuilder Taylor Morrison has named Mike Carlo, who has more than 25 years of experience in the homebuilding industry, as president of its Sarasota division.
Prior to Taylor Morrison, Carlo worked at Richmond American Homes for nearly nine years as division president of Jacksonville and most recently was senior division president of Orlando and Jacksonville. Previously, he was president of real estate investment and development at CenterPoint Properties in St. Johns. Carlo earned a B.S. in finance from the University of Illinois and received a law degree from American University.
“Mike is a proven leader with an impressive track record of operational excellence and strategic growth across several homebuilders,” area president Steve Kempton said.
Taylor Morrison’s Sarasota division currently has seven open communities with plans to open two new Esplanade resort lifestyle communities over the next year: Esplanade at Wellen Park in mid-2026 and Esplanade at Cammaray Lakewood Ranch in early 2027.
Young Professionals Summit
The 2026 Young Professionals Summit, presented by Kerkering, Barberio & Co., will take place on May 28 at Embassy Suites Sarasota, bringing together emerging leaders from across the region for an afternoon of connection, learning, and professional development.
This year’s theme, “Connect the Dots – Turning Relationships into Impact,” will focus on how meaningful relationships influence career growth, organizational success, and community impact. The Summit will feature speakers Marcey Walsh of Dale Carnegie, Chris Williams of Aginto | A Digital Agency, and Will Luera of Lifeline Productions.

SPARCC attorney honored
Supervising attorney Shannon Stafford of the Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center was honored with the Tania Schmidt-Alpers Award for Legal Excellence at a recent statewide legal summit.
Stafford began her work with SPARCC in 2017 with the launch of the IFP Project. She represents survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking, helping them navigate the legal system and secure critical protections.
“Shannon’s leadership and commitment to survivors is evident in every case she takes on,” said Jessica Hays, president and CEO of SPARCC. “She works tirelessly to help survivors obtain protection through the legal system while building strong partnerships throughout our community to improve safety and accountability. This recognition is incredibly well deserved.”
