Caitlin Clark leads Indiana Fever to win over Golden State Valkyries in return from back injury

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Fever beat the Golden State Valkyries 90-82 to finish off a four-game homestand on Friday night.

Aliyah Boston finished with a 20-point, 16-rebound double-double, while Kelsey Mitchell had 19 points.

Caitlin Clark picked up her second technical of the season on Thursday night as she got into a spat with Valkyries guard Janelle Salaün at the end of the first half. Clark tried to reach around Salaün for the rebound as the buzzer sounded, and Salaün pushed back then turned around for some words. The two were quickly separated by their teammates, and they received double technicals.

Clark also picked up a Flagrant 1 after setting a hard screen on Veronica Burton with two minutes left in the game. She finished with 22 points, two rebounds, nine assists, a tech, a flagrant 1, and five fouls in her return from a one-game injury absence.

What the Indiana Fever’s win vs Golden State Valkyries means

Indiana had some defensive lapses, especially in the second quarter, but they showed that they’re able to fight back from those. The third quarter, and their competitiveness coming out of halftime, gave them the edge they needed to take to the end of the game and tally their first win against Golden State in franchise history.
