The final 2026 Indianapolis 500 practice is today, May 22, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during Carb Day, which also features Wienermobile racing, a pit stop contest and a concert.
Thirty-three cars are scheduled for a 2-hour session, though rain could affect it. Front-row starter Alexander Rossi is coming off a hard crash on Monday, May 18, that resulted in finger and ankle injuries.
Defending race champ Alex Palou will start from pole position, and Katherine Legge’s effort to complete the Indy 500-NASCAR “Double” gets more intense.
We will have updates throughout practice, so please remember to refresh.

Carburetors mix air and fuel in a proper ratio for combustion engines, such as those in passenger cars.
Do Indy 500 cars have carburetors?
No. The last time a car with a carburetor qualified for the race was in 1963. Fuel injectors replaced carburetors.
