With Organized team activities (OTAs) almost here for the Indianapolis Colts, let’s take a look at the current state of the team’s depth chart on offense.
Offseason workouts have already been underway for the Colts for roughly the last month, but OTAs begin on May 26th. In this third phase of offseason programs, no contact can take place, but teams can do competitive team periods.
From a roster-building standpoint, it’s been a fairly active offseason for GM Chris Ballard. A number of key contributors from recent teams are now playing elsewhere, including Zaire Franklin, Michael Pittman, and Kenny Moore.
Ballard also made 10 outside additions during the free agency period, and then added 20 rookies to the roster between the NFL draft and undrafted free agency.
All of this roster turnover will create some positional competitions that will take place over the summer.
Heading into the first OTA practice, here is the offensive depth chart and where things stand at each position group.
Quarterback
Anthony Richardson has been taking part in offseason workouts. The big question here is whether or not he gets traded at this point. And if not, who earns the QB 2 role — Richardson or Riley Leonard?
Running back
Seth McGowan and DJ Giddens will presumably compete for the RB2 role behind Jonathan Taylor.
Wide receiver
The WR3 role is up for grabs. Ashton Dulin, Deion Burks, and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine should all be in the mix. While there will be a starter on paper at that position, all three players could fill that role in a by-committee approach by the Colts, with the matchups and in-game situations dictating who’s on the field.
Tight end
The Colts are shaping up to have the same tight end room as last year on the 2026 53-man roster. Warren will, of course, lead the way, but we will continue to see our share of two-tight-end sets under Shane Steichen.
Offensive line
The starting five seems to be in place, but the addition of Jalen Farmer adds much-needed competition to the Colts’ offensive line unit. Ballard believes Farmer can play tackle as well. This allows him to potentially push Matt Goncalves or Jalen Travis for playing time. He could also compete to be either the first guard or tackle off the bench.
