A 23-year-old man was driving drunk when he struck and killed a woman in Rancho Mirage over the weekend, then fled the scene, sheriff’s investigators alleged. He was soon arrested.
The crash on Saturday, May 16, killed 57-year-old Teresa Bowlin of Cathedral City, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Riverside County sheriff’s deputies soon found the suspect, Tyler Conant of Long Beach, and arrested him. He had gotten out of his car and run away after the crash, which happened about 8 a.m. Saturday at Dinah Shore Drive and George Montgomery Way, according to a press release from the sheriff’s department.
Conant was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of murder and felony hit-and-run, the sheriff’s department said. Jail records show Conant was still in custody Monday, May 18, and scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 20.
