This weekend, Banana Ball, the famed high-energy baseball and entertainment, is in El Paso for exciting games between the Texas Tailgaters and the Firefighters, Friday and Saturday, May 15-16.
Those who aren’t at the game at Southwest University Park might want to take part in Kids to Parks Day Saturday, May 16, at Lomaland Park, 715 Lomita Drive. The event will be free and have a variety of fun activities.
“Kids to Parks Day is a wonderful opportunity to connect families with the outdoors while encouraging healthy, active lifestyles,” said Parks and Recreation Department Director Pablo Caballero in an email. “We look forward to creating a fun and welcoming space where children can play, explore, and make lasting memories.”
Over on the West Side, one of the biggest names in electronic dance music takes over The Elmont Swim Club this Saturday as DJ Snake performs at the Montecillo venue’s poolside stage.

Cool Canyon Nights
Cool Canyon Nights returns to McKelligon Canyon Amphitheatre for its 16th Season with Mariachis Los Arrieros performing at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 14.
Cazzu
Argentine rapper and singer Cazzu will perform in El Paso at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at the El Paso County Coliseum. Tickets ranging from $52 to $254 plus fees are available at Ticketmaster.com.
Banana Ball brings Texas Tailgaters, Firefighters to El Paso
Banana Ball will be in El Paso with the Texas Tailgaters and the Firefighters facing off at 7 p.m. Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16 at Southwest University Park. Tickets start at $35 and are available at gobananas.fansfirsttickets.com.
DJ Snake at Elmont Swim Club
DJ Snake will be in El Paso for a show at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 16, the Elmont Swim Club, 240 W. Castellano Drive. Tickets for all shows are available at elmontsocial.com.
Kids to Parks Day
The city of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department invites families to celebrate Kids to Parks Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Lomaland Park, 715 Lomita Drive. The free, family-friendly event will offer a variety of outdoor and educational activities for children of all ages, including flag-tag, geocaching, sack races, jumping balloons, live entertainment, and more.
Armed Forces Day celebration
Fort Bliss will be celebrating Armed Forces Day with a celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Bliss Smith Field, next to Cassidy Gate. The event will include military working dog demonstrations, military static displays, food trucks and games and activities for all ages.
Jewel Box Series
El Paso puppeteers Kessto Kreatures will close the 10th season of the El Paso Community Foundation Jewel Box Series with the Anansi Experience at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the Philanthropy Theatre.
General admission tickets are $15 per show, available at the Plaza Theatre Box Office (no service fees) and Ticketmaster (with service fees).
Rock Orchestra by Candlelight
The Rock Orchestra by Candlelight is an electrifying 90-minute show of 14 classical musicians playing music by iconic rock bands. The performance will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the Plaza Theatre. Tickets ranging from $62 to $189 plus fees are available at Ticketmaster.com.
