A 60-year-old Lake City man was hit and killed on May 13 on U.S. Highway 90 in Columbia County, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The FHP report
According to the report, an 83-year-old Lake City man was driving an SUV east on U.S. Highway 90 and approaching the intersection with County Road 245 when a man riding an electric wheelchair crossed in front of the vehicle. The driver struck the pedestrian while attempting to stop. The man was thrown from his wheelchair and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV and his 81-year-old female passenger were not injured.
