Hut 8, the company scouting a data center site in Nueces County, needs to provide more information on their operation for the county to get on board.
Aside from the fact that these data centers are huge water-and-electricity vampires, we’ve seen these inflated employment figures and promises of company self-sufficiency before. In addition, neighbors of existing data centers suffer from high levels of noise, to the level where it disrupts residents’ sleep.
Hut 8’s website quoted in the article shows they need to learn plain talk, rather than such vague, tech-sounding doubletalk. The real deal-breaker is that Hut 8 won’t even come clean enough to reveal who the proposed tenant will be. I call B.S. — more transparency, please.
