Orion Township has declared a state of emergency in case a water main fails.
The township said the Great Lakes Water Authority has advised that a water main leak in Auburn Hills remains stable, and residents and business owners may continue normal water usage.
“However, in the event of a full water main failure, Orion Township anticipates the possibility of a water service interruption lasting multiple days,” the township said in a release Saturday afternoon.
The township said it has established multiple water distribution locations and assistance for vulnerable populations if water service is disrupted.
The township will provide updates on the water main through its website and social media channels. It also urges residents and business owners to enroll in CivicPlus, its emergency notification system, to receive alerts and guidance in case of an emergency.
Enroll at CivicPlus online here or by texting OrionMI to 38276.
