New Florida restaurant has Jamaican beef patties from top island chain

The chain focuses on Jamaican beef patties, which are flaky, fried-until-golden pastries usually filled with mild or spicy ground beef. The chain’s meat seasoning contains Scotch bonnet peppers, pimento seeds, turmeric, green onions, white onions and garlic.

For sides, they have coco bread, tropical drinks and banana chips. Coco bread is a Jamaican staple that Food & Wine magazine describes as “barely sweet, hand-held pockets of buttery bread” made of flour, yeast and coconut milk.

Customers can add avocado, cheese, bacon or eggs to any patty, and participating restaurants may carry French fries and fried plantains.

Juici Patties has 60 shops in Jamaica as well as franchise locations in 10 Florida cities and 8 New York cities, according to its website. They’re also sold in grocery stores in Canada, the Caribbean and the United Kingdom, the website says.
