At the time of his commitment, Van Maanen was unranked and unrated by the 247Sports Composite. He is listed at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds.

As a junior, Van Maanen racked up 92.5 tackles and 23.5 tackles for loss, both of which were team-highs.

Van Maanen picked up offers from Iowa, South Dakota, Lindenwood and Northern Iowa. The Hawkeyes just offered Van Maanen in late April.

Van Maanen runs a 4.68 40-yard dash and has a 36.1 inch vertical, according to his social media.

Van Maanen is the third linebacker to commit to the Hawkeyes in the 2027 high school class, joining Braylon Bingham and Gavin Stecker.

Van Maanen is the 10th player overall to pledge in the Hawkeyes’ 2027 class. Six of those 10 are products of the state of Iowa.
