Another week, another talented crop of Florida Power & Light Athlete of the Week nominees.
Blake Peters of Choctaw won last week’s honor after delivering a Ruthian, three-run blast in the region semis as part of his onslaught on opposing pitching this postseason, and now it’s up for you to vote on who’ll join a lauded list of past winners that includes Niceville’s Ryder Hodgkinson, Shelby Plasier, Chloe Bailey, CJ Bolden, Delaney Diehl, Abbey Kuritz, Camrin Pearson, Teray Geiger and Jakobe Gilyard; Fort Walton Beach’s Breanna Williams, Macy Borgen, Eric Stouder, Brian Velazquez, Sawyer Downs and Diandre Mayes; South Walton’s AK Wickman, Connor Rooney and Maci Jones; Paxton’s Wade Borgesen, Cade Stewart and Kenzie Lassiter; Choctaw’s Blake Peters, Carter and Jack Marracco, Camry Johnson, Tamen Zabetakis and Jordan Figueroa; Navarre’s Maleeya Brammer; Walton’s Kaden Fuentes and Whitton West; Baker’s Wyatt Straight; and Freeport’s Emily Doi.
Voting runs through noon Saturday, so vote now and vote often. The winner will be announced here afterward.
Athlete of the Week Nominees
Lincoln Broussard, Niceville: Broussard jacked a grand slam to lift the Eagles to a 10-6, Game 3 win over Mosley and lift Niceville into the Region 1-5A finals.
Izzy Douglas, FWB: Douglas tossed a no-hitter versus Choctaw, striking out 11 and allowing just four walks in a 7-0 district championship win.
Maddox Gentry, Choctaw: Gentry tossed a three-hitter and struck out seven to lead Choctaw to a 4-1 win over St. Augustine in Game 3 of the Region 1-4A semifinals.
