What is going into the old Red Lobster in Redding?

Red Lobster closed in Redding two years ago, after the chain had operated on Dana Drive for more than 30 years.

There hasn’t been much activity at the site since the closure, though the property did sell in May 2025 to a limited liability corporation in Carson City, Nevada, for $1.8 million, according to Shasta County property records.

Since then, crews have been seen working on the property to make way for a new sushi restaurant and bar. Crews are demolishing the inside of the building to create the new restaurant.

Workers told the Record Searchlight that it will take about five months to redevelop the property. Which means there is a chance the new restaurant could open before the end of 2026.
