MIDLAND – The body of a 50-year-old Midland man was pulled from beneath a dam on the Tittabawassee River on Saturday, May 2, police said.
Midland police said they responded to a dam on the property of Dow Inc. for a report of an unoccupied kayak stuck in the dam about 11:45 a.m. Saturday.
Officers found the man, whose name was not released, stuck under the dam, according to a release. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and an autopsy is scheduled, police said.
Police characterized the incident as a kayaking accident.
Police said they were assisted by Dow Security and Emergency Services, Four Lakes Task Force, Gratiot and Midland county central dispatches, the Midland and Midland Township fire departments, the Midland County Sheriff’s office dive team and MyMichigan Medical Center Emergency Medical Services.
