Christopher Roney has been appointed to the University of West Florida Board of Trustees.
Gov. Ron DeSantis made the announcement April 24.
The owner and co-founder of Ace Unlocks, Roney already serves as the grant committee chair of the University of West Florida Foundation Board of Directors. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from the university.
He will be the board’s 13th trustee and fills the slot left open when Adam Kissel was not confirmed by the Senate Ethics and Elections Committee or the full Senate before the 2026 Legislature session ended on March 13.
Roney is also a former member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida Board, and the recipient of the 2023 University of West Florida Alumni Community Spirit Award.
Roney’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate. He will join other UWF board members new SGA President Eli Schatz, Ed Fleming, Janice Gilley, Adam Kissell, Kevin Mason, Rebecca Matthews, Rachel Moya, Kishane Patel, Heather Riddell, Ashley Ross, Zack Smith and Chris Young.
