Lubbock organizations hosting annual Cinco de Mayo parade Saturday

Los Hermanos Familia with the Purple Hearts South Plains Texas Chapter will host their 13th Annual Cinco de Mayo parade of Lubbock Saturday, May 2, along historic Broadway.

The theme for the 13th Annual Cinco de Mayo parade will be, “Anything for Selenas,” according to a news release from Los Hermanos Familia.

The parade will step off at 10 a.m. The route begins at First Baptist Church, 2201 Broadway, and travels east down historic Broadway to the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. 

Organizations, schools, youth, car clubs, motorcycles, businesses, families, and the community are especially urged to be a part of this year’s parade and celebrate this cultural history and the contributions of the Mexican American community, as well as to bring their favorite Selena song or costume to life.

Participants are urged to honor Selena with one white rose on their float, car, or costume

“Los Hermanos Familia’s mission is strengthening families and building community,” Amaris Garcia, parade co-chair, said in the news release. “Come have fun and enjoy the loteria theme come to life.”

In addition, Los Hermanos Familia has announced that the 2026 Cinco de Mayo Parade of Lubbock Grand Marshal is Tejano music sensation AJ Castillo. Youth organizations, sports groups, and academic organizations are invited to participate and showcase their achievements.

This year, the event’s title sponsor is Glasheen, Valles, and Inderman, LLC. Other sponsors include Latino Lubbock Magazine, Lamar Advertising, Magic 106.5, Atmos Energy, and the Lubbock County Commissioners Court.

An online application for parade entries and floats can be found at www.loshermanosfamilia.org on the “Get Involved” page. Be a participant or a spectator on Saturday, May 2, 2026. Set-up time is as early as 8:30 a.m., and will commence at 10 a.m.
