The Cheboygan Lock and Dam Complex as well as the City of Cheboygan have been officially removed from the “Ready, Set, Go” evacuation model, but water levels will continue to be closely monitored.
According to a Friday, May 1 update from Cheboygan County Emergency Management Director Jeremy Runstrom, multiple factors are being continuously evaluated to ensure water levels remain stable at the dam and do not rise again.
In other parts of the county, conditions are also steadily improving. Officials said water levels at Black Lake, Mullett Lake and Burt Lake have all shown a slow but consistent decline in recent days.
As recovery continues, Runstrom urged residents to self-report their flood impacts through the ArcGIS Survey123, as community-submitted reports provide critical, real-time information that helps emergency management officials assess damage, prioritize resources and support recovery efforts.
Residents can also obtain free water sample test kits from District Health Department No. 4 at 825 S. Huron St., Suite 1, in Cheboygan.
