Champions again! Nease girls tennis repeats in FHSAA final

Make it back-to-back for Nease tennis.

The Panthers made history by capturing the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 3A girls tennis championship, defeating Jensen Beach in the final on April 30 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs.

Nease becomes the first Northeast Florida public school in FHSAA records to earn consecutive team championships in girls tennis. Bolles previously went back-to-back in 2004 and 2005.

From start to finish in Seminole County, Nease made sure the final outcome never appeared in doubt. They began the final with doubles victories in the early afternoon: Danielle Wei and Olivia Jepsen swept Jensen Beach’s Domenica Monserrate and Carissa Regis, 4-0, 4-0, and Portland Murray and Blair Murray teamed up to down Ella Cedeno and Reese Richardson, 4-1, 5-3.

From there, they rolled in the singles portion as well. Wei defeated Monserrate 6-2, 6-2 on line one, and Blair Murray overcame Lucy Mayer 6-1, 6-4 on line four.

The magic number of four points became official and the Panthers, who were also ahead in the other three matches still in progress, celebrated a historic day for Northeast Florida tennis.

Just how thoroughly did the Panthers dominate the tournament? They didn’t lose a match during their two days in Seminole County, with wins of 4-0 over Tarpon Springs East Lake, 5-0 over Cypress Creek and then 4-0 against Jensen Beach in the final.

No opponent has beaten Nease in any individual match since the No. 4 singles final of District 4-3A in Palm Coast on April 14, a competition the Panthers still won easily with a near-perfect 20 points.

The team championship is the third all-time for Nease, after prior victories in 1997 and 2025, and the 19th in the career of coach Michael Kypriss going back to his years at Miami Killian and Dr. Krop.
