Unleaded gas prices across Michigan shot up to nearly $5 per gallon late Wednesday and into Thursday.
While AAA Michigan reported that the statewide average climbed 33 cents in one day to $4.58 per gallon, it was above $5 per gallon in some parts of Michigan.
Here’s where gas is reported to be the most costly across the state:
In Lansing, drivers were being charged $5.19 per gallon for unleaded with credit or debit card payments at the WOW! gas station on West Saginaw Street. For motorists paying with cash, the price was $5.09 on Thursday morning.
In Livonia, motorists reported paying $5.14 a gallon for regular unleaded at the Amoco stations at 36375 5 Mile Road and 33234 Schoolcraft Road on Thursday morning, according to GasBuddy.com. Down the road, on 5 Mile Road at the BP, the price was reported at $5.04 a gallon on Wednesday night.
In Calhoun County along Interstate-94, the Love’s truck stop in Marshall was charging $5.09 per gallon, according to users on GasBuddy.com.
In nearby Okemos, the Marathon on Okemos Road was charging $5.04 a gallon midday Thursday, according to GasBuddy.com users.
On the south side of Lansing, motorists were being charged $4.99 at the Kroger, Mobil and Sunoco in Holt, according to users on GasBuddy.com. Other motorists reported paying $4.99 a gallon at gas stations in Mason and Dansville.
In Romulus, near Detroit Metro Airport, the Sheetz convenience store reported that regular unleaded gas was $4.99, with premium at $6.09.
In Ann Arbor, a driver reported paying $4.99 a gallon at the Meijer on Jackson Road.
In southwest Michigan, motorists were reporting paying $4.99 a gallon at gas stations near I-94 in Sawyer, Baroda and Stevensville, according to GasBuddy.com users.
In Alpena, motorists reported paying $4.99 a gallon at the Meijer, Murphy USA, Marathon and Shell stations.
Motorists in Grayling also reported $4.99 a gallon gas being sold at Amoco, Marathon, Shell and Speedway stations on Thursday.
In Saginaw and Frankenmuth, the price was $4.79 at BP, Marathon, Speedway and Mobil gas stations, according to GasBuddy.com users.
