Walmart is remodeling 10 Illinois stores this year, including one in Canton and one in Kewanee, to modernize its in-store and online shopping experiences, expanding its assortment of healthy foods and affordable items.
The Canton Walmart at 2071 North Main Street and the Kewanee Supercenter at 730 Tenney Street are on the list to get the upgrades.
The Illinois updates are part of the company’s plan to remodel more than 650 Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets across the country in 2026. Walmart is also opening about 20 new stores nationwide in 2026 and early 2027.
The changes include “upgrading layouts, technology and services that offer faster, more convenient shopping and delivery in a little less than an hour for most customers,” the company said in an April 16 announcement.
Many Neighborhood Markets are also receiving expanded deli and hot bar selections, improved lighting and fixtures, pharmacy delivery options, and upgraded areas for fulfilling online grocery orders, the company said.
