Ikea will offer furniture shoppers a second location in Michigan to check out home items this summer.
The home retail company announced Monday plans for a 4,500 square-foot pop-up store in Auburn Hills’s Great Lakes Crossing Outlets that will open early summer 2026.

The pop-up with pick-up model is a part of Ikea U.S.’s growth strategy to increase accessibility for customers, its release said. The store will have around 500 of the company’s most popular home furnishing accessories and online shoppers will have the option to pick up qualifying orders or larger furniture orders by selecting Ikea Auburn Hills as the preferred pick-up location at checkout.
“Unlike traditional large‑format IKEA stores, this location offers customers the opportunity to meet with IKEA co‑workers to plan and order home furnishing solutions that may require additional support, such as kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms,” the release stated. Its staff can arrange delivery and shoppers can use the pop-up store to get inspiration and personalized support from Ikea planners to design spaces throughout their homes.
Ikea opened its first large outlet in Canton in 2006. The opening of the Auburn Hills pop-up store would mark the company’s 20th year operating in Metro Detroit.
“We’re thrilled to welcome customers to IKEA Auburn Hills early this summer,” said Heather Spatz, Ikea’s market manager, in the release. “This pop‑up store with pick‑up is a different format than our traditional IKEA stores, designed specifically to bring our signature style closer to the community. By adding this location to the market, we’re making IKEA more accessible, more convenient, and always affordable for the many.”
