Detroit Lions NFL Draft Injury Report: UNLV Safety Jalen Catalon

The Lions safety position scored a 6/10 need on my Lions Defensive Positional Need Rankings – primarily due to health concerns. That means the Lions may be looking to add to the position in the NFL Draft. Jalen Catalon is a prospect who might have too high of a medical concern level for the Lions to accept.

Here is the excerpt from my Jalen Catalon Medical Report:

Jalen Catalon, S (25) – UNLV

Projected round 6-7.

Concern level 8/10

Catalon has the longest college career I’ve analyzed so far, as it started in the year BC (Before Covid). He has a long list of significant injuries in his past, but was reliable in his final two seasons of college.

Was he just unlucky earlier in his career or is he injury prone? Regardless of the answer, there are definite concerns of age and residuals.

Catalon finished his career with 10 INT and 14 PBU.
