Firefighters respond to New Smyrna Beach explosion at ice plant

New Smyrna Beach firefighters responded to a series of explosions and a fire at the Reddy Ice plant, where five semi-tractor trailers burned at about 9 p.m. on April 19.

The fire department, in a Facebook post, shared photos of a raging blaze and the aftermath: Five destroyed trucks at the ice plant located at 1420 Industrial Drive.

Firefighters from both the city and the Volusia County Fire Department helped extinguish the blaze. There were no injuries, and no structures were involved, the fire department’s post stated.

The cause was unknown, according to the post.
