COMSTOCK — The Centreville track and field teams handled business at the Comstock Invitational held on Friday evening, April 17. The Bulldog boys posted 179 points to claim first place while the girls posted an impressive 236 team points to run away with the win.
The girls team recorded eight first-place finishes at the event. They also filled up top three slots in 16 of the 17 total events in Comstock. Kaylyn Coney ran to first place in the 400 at 1:06.65 and Berkley Shingledecker was first overall in the 800 at 2:29.00. Ellie Reed took second in the 800 at 2:37.58, but she won the mile run for the Bulldogs at 5:59.54.

Addison Johnson’s time in the 2-mile run was 13:11.71, which won the race.
Centreville won three of the four relays on evening. In the 400, the team of Arianna Six, Leah Roberts, Nevaeh Prichard and Coney posted a best time of 52.97 seconds. The mile relay was won by the squad of Coney, Six, Reed and Shingledecker at 4:25.57. The Bulldogs also won the two-mile relay as Kate Hulin, Reed, Hazel Sloat and Shingledecker ran to a time of 12:11.88.
Lena Reed claimed first place for Centreville in the shot put at 32-9 feet.
Prichard was second in the 100 dash (14.07 seconds); Coney was second in the 200 (28.22); Johnson ran to third in the mile (6:03.33); Emily Roberts was second in the 300 hurdles (1:02.02); the 800 relay team of Ava Bingaman, Six, Prichard and Shingledecker was second (1:57.88); Kaylee Smith was second in the discus (101-10) and third in the shot put (29-4); Mary Stears was third in the discus (92-11); Leah Roberts was second in the high jump (4-10); Sloat claimed third in the high jump (4-9); Emily Roberts was third in the pole vault (7-0); Ava Bingaman was second in the long jump (13-9) and Prichard claimed third in the long jump at 13-6.
The Bulldog boys won seven events.
Will Hulin claimed two of those wins. He was first in the mile run at 4:53.25 and the 2-mile at 9:54.46. Hulin was also the anchor for the Bulldogs in the 2-mile relay, teaming up with Riley Monson, Henry Sloat and Micaiah Sylvester to post 8:51.10.
Matthew Bates won the shot put at 49-4 feet. Brayden Swanwick won the high jump, clearing 6-0 feet.
Deandre Stout ran to first place overall in the 200 dash at 23.55 seconds. He helped the mile relay win as well, teaming up with Sylvester, Swanwick and Brendan Sre to race to a time of 3:37.42.
Stout was second in the 100 (11.65); Dylan Schwartz was third in the 200 (24.65); Monson was third in the 800 (2:12.26); Max Reed was second in the mile (4:56.49) and the two-mile (10:56.14); the 400 relay was third as Bates, Schwartz, Swanwick and Stout posted 44.68; the 800 relay team of Warrick Snyder, Zak Pifer, Jayden Hasse and Schwartz was third at 1:39.15; Bates was second in the discus (140-07), Will Swanwick claimed third in the high jump (5-8) and Sylvester was third overall in long jump (18-11.5).
The Bronson teams also competed at the Comstock Invitational. The boys were second overall with 116.5 total team points. A pair of Vikings won individual events.
Brayden Fritz took home first place in the discus event at 148-10 feet. Stevie Wilson also claimed a first place on the night, he won the long jump by clearing 19-5 feet.
Dalton Hoard was second overall in the 200 (24.12) and third in the 100 (11.80); Denver Siler was third in the mile run (5:905.29); Wilson was second in the 300 hurdles (43.60) and third in the 110 hurdles at 17.13; Fritz took home second in the shot put at 46-6 and Hoard was second in the long jump event at 19-2.5 feet.
